Several national youth work associations established the Alliance of Youth Workers Associations (AYWA).

The Alliance of National Associations of Youth Workers and Youth Work Providers advocates for youth work recognition, development and quality youth work in Europe.


Olga Kyriakidou is involved in a team producing advocacy tools for youth work development. Olga provided a sneak peek preview of the advocacy toolkit and shared her experiences in youth work advocacy at national and European levels.

Awero organisation created this educational resource and activity for the youth worker training course on networking and advocating.

This activity supports youth workers' competence development in the "Networking and Advocating" area. Activity content and badge issuing criteria aligned with the European Training Strategy (ETS) competence model for youth workers to work internationally:
  • Willingness to collaborate with other actors and stakeholders;
  • Ability to network with a variety of external systems and actors;
  • Appreciation of the added value of new partnership and collaboration opportunities;
  • Knowledge of youth policy and youth work in one’s own context;
  • Readiness to accept compromise while guaranteeing young people’s interests and rights;
  • Knowledge of advocacy approaches and methods in a youth work context;
  • Knowledge about youth rights.
