A guest speaker, Eitvydas Bingelis, who has a wealth of experience in advocacy, shares his expertise and advice for successful advocacy. Eitvydas is a head of the International Migration Organisation office in LT (United Nations); former deputy minister of Social Affairs and Labour Ministry (incl. Youth affairs); former head of the Order of Malta relief organisation in Lithuania;

How do you explain what advocacy is in a kids-friendly language? Watch the tutorial below.

Eitvydas suggests that in advocacy, you need to be a PUNK SEO, where punk represents rebellious change makers, and the SEO reaches the optional potential to influence decisions. He advice to advocates:
  • Provide resources - explore and refer to what already exists
  • Use momentum - seek for a window of opportunity or create one yourself
  • Network and maintain contacts
  • Know the person - know the scene/stage

  • Share a story to better understand the cause
  • Educate - be on the same understanding level
  • Offer solutions - what is possible

Inspiring resources:
